The May family at High Lawn Farm goes back to the cow Dictator Lucky May 1050759 by Hillside Dictator 335057.  Her dam was Sophies Pogis May 821626, but the story continues on back through several generations to the cow Rosalie 1108 imported from the Island of Jersey via London on November 21, 1869 in the ship Cornelius Grinnell to New York.  Rosalie was a squirrel gray color, a color which has tended to persist in the family even until the present.  J.C. Chaffin of Boston, Massachusetts was the original importer.
Dictator Lucky May was one of the original cows in the herd in 1935 when the Colonel and Mrs. Wilde took over the herd.  She was a tested dam and had earned a Register of Merit.
